These days, the networks have beaten us into submission by reality TV, and it isn't just that. It seems like we are besieged by many programs that are devoid of anything new or fresh or have any type of intelligence. To be fair, 24 and House are creative and witty, deserving to be respected. Mad Men on AMC is a wonderful spin on the 60's ad world, and much props to them for starting their first original series on such a high note.
Even with some of the other strong shows just mentioned, it is still easy to state that Entourage is the best show on TV. Jeremy Piven is brilliant as the hilarious Ari Gold, super agent. His irreverent comments and antics are personifications of what we all wish we could do and say in our daily professional lives. The writing is original, funny and the plot lines this season have taken the cast of characters into places we have never seen them go before. Vince, the young Hollywood golden boy can't get a job? It is clear that the writers have something altogether different planned as his story unfolds and he tries to retrieve his former movie star status. The music is great and it really shows the maturity of whoever picks the scene selections. Rock and roll infuse with classic hip hop jams as the audience straps in for the 30 minute ride filled with laughs and great scenery.
The best thing about Entourage is that it makes most of us want to live vicariously through the lives of the boys from Queens. The worst is that the episodes are too short and we all have to wait a week to see the next installment.
